This transformative move comes as a result of a collaborative effort the Center for Women, Youth & Community Action (NACWYCA), under the framework of the Local Health Strengthening Sustainability (LHSS) project in partnership with USAID.
Dr. Nawani Aboki, the Executive Director of NACWYCA, emphasized the imperative of expanding healthcare coverage to include vulnerable populations and the informal sector during the advocacy visit. He underscored the pressing need to alleviate the financial burden of healthcare expenses on the people of Nasarawa State, thereby enhancing their overall well-being.

Echoing Dr. Nawani Aboki’s sentiments, Mr. Reuben Yila, the Representative of NASHIA, highlighted the comprehensive nature of the agency’s health insurance package, designed to cater to all segments of society. He encouraged Honourable Musa Ibrahim to leverage this initiative to empower his constituents and alleviate their healthcare expenses.
In addition, the Team Lead, expressed confidence in the program’s ability to mitigate the cost of medical care for rural dwellers. He urged Honourable Musa Ibrahim to extend the benefits of the health insurance scheme to individuals across his four wards, thereby fostering inclusive healthcare access.
Honourable Musa Ibrahim, in his response, expressed profound gratitude for the visit and the opportunity to contribute to the betterment of his constituents’ lives. He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the LHSS/USAID project and announced his decision to enroll 100 members of his community into the NASHIA Health Insurance Scheme, with 25 beneficiaries from each of the four wards in his constituency.
Furthermore, Honourable Musa Ibrahim pledged to serve as an ambassador for the health insurance scheme, advocating for its adoption among his fellow House of Assembly members and encouraging them to enroll members of their respective communities. To demonstrate his commitment, Honourable Ibrahim promptly transferred the necessary funds to cover the enrollment of the 100 beneficiaries during the meeting.
