History of Organization

The Centre for Women, Youth and Community Action (NACWYCA) is a non-profit, non-religious, non-political and non-governmental organization with focus on the mobilization and empowerment of Women, Youth and Communities for development. The Centre commenced operations in 1st February, 1999 and is presently registered with the Nasarawa State Government and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).  In addition, the Centre began operations with 3 staff and 2 volunteers in a temporary rented 2 room office at Danmaje Shopping Complex by Nigerian Police Force Barak along Jos Road Lafia, Nasarawa State. The Centre has a Board of Directors made up of seven (7) members (4 Female and 3 male) who determine the policy directions of the Centre while day-to-day administration of the Centre lies with the management team led by the Executive Director. Currently, the Centre is presently operating from her permanent office complex along Shendam Road in Lafia with 3 blocks of 10 offices with a hall, a Youth Centre, Youth Clinic.

The Organization is one of the formidable NGOs in the North Central Nigeria because of her proven ability to strengthen the capacity of women, youths, OVC and households in communities through providing

them information on HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, Household economic Strengthening, OVC programming, right and protection, Skill acquisition, seed grant  and literacy through organising workshops, training of trainers, hands – on- provision of services, publications of research works, production and distribution of IEC materials, networking and consultancy services.

In the past Twenty-Three (23) years, the Centre has undergone transformation from a small organization to a model institution with several departments and unites. These branches include Admin and Finance, Youth and Health Services, Right and Protection, Education and Community Mobilisation and Research Monitoring & Evaluation.

There are Five Departments and they are;

  4. Research Monitoring and Evaluation [REMONE] Department

  5. Education and Community Mobilization Department
