16 Days Activism for GBV

On Tuesday, 28th November, 2023, the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN) Office in Nasarawa State in conjunction with the Centre for Women, Youth and Community Action (NACWYCA) and Child Education & Community Development Initiative (CECDI) organized a Sensitization Program at the Shabu area of Lafia as one of the events to mark the 16 Days of Activism on Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the state. The event which took place at the Palace of the Shagarin Shabu had in attendance as the Special Guest of Honor, the First Lady of Nasarawa State, Mrs. Silifat Abdullahi Sule, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Aisha Rufai Ibrahim, the State Coordinator of IHVN, representatives of the two CBOs of NACWYCA and CECDI and community stakeholders in Shabu and around the state.

In her address, the First Lady appreciated the IHVN and its partner organizations and pledged her continuous support in the fight against Gender Based Violence in Nasarawa State. The Shagarin Shabu in his remarks, expressed his excitement for the choice of his community for the event and thanked IHVN, the Ministry of Women Affairs and the First Lady for their work in promoting the cause and welfare of women in the state. Other speaks at the event included the IHVN State Coordinator and community leaders.
