NACWYCA Youth Camp Comes to a Close

The Centre for Women, Youth, and Community Action (NACWYCA) conducted a successful summer camp for the duration of two weeks which came to a close on Friday, August 30, 2024.  At the closing ceremony was held at NACWYCA House, Lafia was graced by the Executive Director of the Centre, Dr. Nawani Aboki, the Chairman of Board of NACWYCA, Justice Simon Aboki, other members of the Board present included Mrs. Hauwa Suleiman and Mr. Charles Orume, parents of the campers, invited guests, and members of the Management and staff of NACWYCA.

The Executive Director, in his opening remarks expressed delight that the 23 year old NACWYCA Summer Youth Camp successfully held for the year 2024 even though there were hitches in terms of organization and smaller number of participation obviously because of the prevailing economic situation.  He thanked the parents, the facilitating staff of NACWYCA and institutions as well as those who were instrumental to the success of the two-week camp time-out.  He encouraged the graduating youth campers to use the lessons learnt for the subsequent growth process of their lives.

In his short remarks, the Board Chairman of NACWYCA, Justice Simon Aboki said he was glad that the Youth Camp for 2024 could take place in spite of the difficulties encountered.  He praised NACWYCA for keeping the flag flying all these years and expressed optimism that the impact the camp has made over the years will continue even with the graduating set of 2024. 

A short drama was presented by the campers about the event and lessons learnt during camp followed by the presentation of gifts by the Board Chairman of NACWYCA to the campers for the different activities that were carried out during camping period which includes cooking competition, quiz, egg preservation, the most punctual camper and the overall best camper.  There was also the presentation of certificates and the materials used for camping.

The exciting part of the event was the exchange of gifts by the campers and the staff of NACWYCA and finally the closing remark by the Executive Director.
